Introduction

I recently got my hands on a new running watch, the Coros Pace 3. It’s been about time I got a new running watch. Ever since I started running I have been using an Apple Watch 3 and Apple Watch SE. These are great watches to use starting out as they cover the basics, heart rate, time, and distance but as my running has evolved, I wanted something a bit more advanced.

Why COROS?

I did some research on different running watches and the market is primarily controlled by Garmin and COROS. Each company has their pros and cons, but as someone getting their first running watch on a limited budget I need something that I could grow into. As someone who can appreciate good technology/apps COROS caught my attention. Here are several reasons I chose this watch.

  • Price – $229.00
  • App – COROS – no added subscriptions, easy to navigate, many watch faces, and easy to find stats.
  • Interface – Navigating the watch is very easy, COROS made it simple. Everything is just about within 2 clicks and a scroll.
  • Features – There are many features on this watch that I am looking forward to using, to name a few there is:
    • Heart rate monitor
    • Stress monitor
    • Sleep monitor
    • Current altitude
    • Weather (daily and 7 day)
    • Kcal
    • Steps
  • Upgradability – As COROS come out with new features they push those updates to older models of watches, allowing older watches to still get the new features the COROS comes out with. For free!
  • Battery life – 15 days – 38 hours with GPS

Initial Thoughts

Since getting this watch I’ve ran with it once, and I was very happy with the results. The display makes it easy for me to see my current progress, and I believe the heart rate monitor/elevation is more accurate than my apple watches were.

The watch band is much more comfortable than what I am used to and the battery life is rated for 38 hours of active use and over 2 weeks of normal use. This by far beats the Apple Watch that lasted just about a day. I’m looking forward to getting to use this watch more in the future, it has impressed me so far and I’m certain it will continue to do so!

Closing

Given the long battery life I never will have to worry about it dying during my runs (like the Apple Watch has done on many occasions) I am looking forward to wearing this watch on my future runs. Given the more accurate stat keeping I will be interested to see what it records next time I run up Pinnacle Hill, or through the Pinnacle Hill Range.
